Textiles
Last week I worked on finding flooring, paint colours and curtain fabric for our living room and bedroom.
I headed into the showroom at James Dunlop and then zipped down the road to Next Dore and filled the car with samples to try out at home. No final decisions yet but I'm getting there.

My house
My husband and I moved to this property in August. We love the view up to the hills and the fact that it's much more spacious than our previous place. What we don't love is the interior so today I am off on my bike to zoom into James Dunlop to check out some fabric for our bedroom and the upstairs bedroom. I want our room to be somewhere where I can enjoy reading my book during the daytime but have a bit of fun with the colour to reflect our style. The upstairs room will double as a teenage hang out / study area.

Great lighting
I have been a fan of Simon James for a long time but have only recently checked out the blog.
I think I will also try and persuade my husband Jonny that this tri pendant will work perfectly over our dining room table.

The design study has begun
Yesterday I enrolled in an online interior design course with The Interior Design Institute. My first assignment is to find 3 interior spaces that portray different moods. This is how I'm getting on so far.
This is the dining room at King of Snake restaurant, Christchurch. Modern and sexy.
This bedroom is from Inside Out magazine September issue. I could quite happily relax in this bedroom.
This article is about designer Alex Fulton love the hallway. Bright and inviting.
The reason I've enrolled in this course is that I have a vested interest in design. My husband and I enjoy doing up houses and I want to get better at it. Our current house is just about to undergo major repairs and I will be completely overhauling the interior. So far we have put some stunning new curtains in our daughter's room because there weren't any there, courtesy of James Dunlop Textiles. I'm looking forward to going in this week to look at some more.
